We’re a BCorp!

We’re a BCorp!

It’s official! We’re delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded BCorp status, joining a growing community who want to use their business as a force for good and make a positive impact on our society.

So, what is a BCorp?

BCorp (Benefit Corporation) is a global movement – a community of likeminded businesses who have a desire to deliver more than growth and profitability. BCorp businesses meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance.

In Zuto’s language, BCorp’s have a greater purpose, and want to use their business as a force for good in society. Doing things in the right way and genuinely making a difference in the world.

There are currently over 4,000 Certified BCorps in more than 70 countries around the world, and we’re one of around 25 financial services BCorps in the UK… quite an exclusive club, and it’s kind of a big deal to get accredited.

BCorp businesses you may be familiar with include:

· Ella’s Kitchen

· Patagonia

· Hello Fresh

· Fairtrade

· Innocent Drinks

· Graze

With celebrity endorsements from the likes of Jamie Oliver, Ferne Cotton, Khloe Kardashian and Bear Grylls.

BCorp businesses tend to be known for pioneering ethical and sustainable changes in the world.

Why did Zuto want to become a BCorp?

At Zuto, we want to do more than support our customers through the car buying experience. We want to change car finance for the better and bring complete transparency to the industry - alongside making sure we meet our responsibilities towards our people, to the communities around us, and the environment.

BCorp provides a great framework to help us understand how we fare when it comes to building a sustainable business, but beyond that, it helps shape and inform what changes we can make to improve what we’re doing at Zuto.

There are lots of things that sit within this, but as an example, BCorp companies need to consider things such as:

- What is our gender pay gap

- Do we pay real living wage?

- Do we recycle?

- How much of our energy is supplied from renewable sources?

- Do we donate to charitable causes?

How do you become a BCorp?

It’s really quite hard!

To be certified as a BCorp, businesses have to demonstrate a commitment to running your business with 3 P’s in mind… profit, purpose, people

You really have to put your money where your mouth is… there is no danger of cheating the BCorp certification by making false claims – BCorp are thorough.

Since we originally started the BCorp process, we’ve learnt an awful lot about ourselves, and we’re always working on finding better ways of doing things.

So, what’s next?

We’re really committed to giving back to our local community, and last year we launched the ‘Zuto Make A Difference Fund’ with Forever Manchester – supporting grassroots community groups across Greater Manchester. We couldn’t do this without your support, and we can’t thank our customers enough for choosing Zuto and supporting us over the years.

This is just the start of our journey with many more exciting things to come in the future, so watch this space!
