Behind the Scenes: Jimmy’s Bluebelles
Over the years between marathons and sponsorships, we’ve raised a decent amount of money for The Prader-Willi Association, a charity which has helped my family massively. Our son Jimmy has Prader-Willi Syndrome and they’ve been a incredible source of support and information, I don’t know how we’d have coped without them.
Last year, my wife decided she wanted to get in on the fundraising act. Over a few bottles of wine with a couple of friends, they decided that taking their clothes off for a charity calendar would be a fun way to give something back, and Jimmy’s Bluebelles was born!
Luckily Kate has some amazing friends who were only too happy to be involved and the calendar quickly started to take shape. It all happened really quickly but was very professional (and tasteful!)
We held an official launch last November in Cheshire and pulled out all the stops to make the night go with a bang – we even somehow got an ice rink into the club for a professional ice skating group. It was amazing to see how many people were willing to support us – from coming to the launch to helping out with publicity, and we got some great local press coverage.
Unsurprisingly the calendars sold rather well – seems people are keen to see a bunch of lovely ladies naked, and when you add in the charity element we realised we were on to a winner. You can visit their website to find out more! http://www.jimmysbluebelles.co.uk/. So far, it’s raised in excess of £6K to support the fabulous work done by PWSA.
