Car Loan 4U bake-off leaves us stuffed and raises money for charity
Are you hungry? At Car Loan 4U we certainly were last week, so we thought what better way to treat ourselves than to have a bake-off competition amongst our colleagues and also raise money for charity at the same time.
Our chosen charity was Prader Willi Syndrome Association (PWSA) – a fantastic charity which provides support and care for families affected by Prader Willi Syndrome, which is a rare, complex genetic disorder.
It’s also a charity that is very close to our hearts, as our CEO James Wilkinson’s four-year-old son Jimmy has the syndrome.
A number of our partners spent the previous night baking a stunning collection of cakes to try and dazzle the judges. As you can see from the photos, plenty of cakes were baked in all shapes, sizes, flavours and colours, and the judges had a hard time choosing an overall winner.
We should add that the 10 judges were employees who were chosen because their birthday falls in May, rather than inviting Delia Smith and the like to pop into the office!
Yet after much deliberating, with judges marking their scorecards on appearance, creativity and taste, Katie Gorman was named the winner for her brilliant Car Loan 4U car and she took home the grand prize of the Golden Teapot, as well as an afternoon tea experience for two.
Runners-up spot was taken by the duo of Scott Talbot and Rebecca Hardy for their stylish PWSA cake, and to complete the line-up in third spot was Jo Wiseman’s gorgeous coffee break cake.
It was then left for everyone else to try the cakes and make a donation to PWSA. As we count the proceeds, it’s fair to say that there were very few cakes left!
