New research from Which? magazine has revealed that nearly half of us get annoyed when not being able to speak to a UK based call centre. The research, which examined 100 of the UK’s biggest brands, also identified automated telephone systems and being passed from person to person as other key ‘red mist’ triggers when it comes to customer service.
A little over the top? Well it’s also estimated that, on average, we will spend up to 27 minutes waiting each time we call a call centre, that’s 6.5hrs a year and – a staggering 22 days over a lifetime!
If you’re unfortunate enough not to have a free phone or local rate number to call then look away now, as the average 0844 number can cost you £385 a year – or £30,780 which is the equivalent of a new VW Golf GT. Good news is that the Government has banned the majority of premium rate numbers across most industries – but it’s always worth checking before you pick up the phone!
