More young drivers set to benefit from innovative scheme
As young drivers feel the pinch of owning and running a car, Peugeot have announced that they will be extending their ‘Just Add Fuel’ scheme.
Until recently, the offer only applied to drivers aged 25 and over. However, the new terms will mean drivers aged 21 and over will be eligible to take part in the innovative scheme.
The increasing costs associated with owning and running a car makes it more challenging than ever for young people to drive in the modern day.
A recent report showed the ownership of vehicles among young people dropped by 12% between 2010 and 2011, and this is likely to decline further as motoring costs are only set to rise.
Neil Moscrop, Director of Sales at Peugeot, said: “With insurance premiums for young drivers spiralling, there is little incentive to buy a car when the amount needed to run it seems so overwhelming.
“Owning a car offers a great sense of independence and freedom to young drivers and for many is their main way of commuting, so it’s important that this age group isn’t put off from buying and running cars indefinitely,” he added.
Peugeot previously offered a brand new Peugeot vehicle that covered all major motoring costs with a fixed monthly payment to drivers over the age of 25. This car ownership solution has now been extended to drivers aged 21 and above.
Young drivers who choose to use this all-inclusive, three-year package will gain comprehensive motor insurance, vehicle servicing, road tax, roadside assistance and warranty.
Moscrop was bullish about the benefits of the scheme when describing it:
“Just Add Fuel means that drivers can manage their motoring budget easily for a period of three years, the monthly cost is set and covers every aspect of car ownership, so fuel is the only element to add.”
“We’ve had a great response from customers eligible for the existing Just Add Fuel scheme, so widening the offer seemed like the natural next step and also a practical solution to help keep young drivers on the road.”
Peugeot will determine the monthly payment by considering the chosen vehicle, the postcode of the owner of the car and the age of the youngest named driver.
